Roker Pier, shown mounted at 8x6" print (10x8" mount)

Roker Pier

£12.50

Straight down the pier on a bright clear morning, the cobbled deck converging on the red and white banded lighthouse under a deep blue sky, sun flaring in from the edge of the frame. Crisp and postcard bright.

Roker Pier took eighteen years to build, its lighthouse following in 1903 under engineer Henry Hay Wake. Behind the granite bands the interior is remarkably grand for a working lighthouse, with wooden panelling, parquet floors and a tiled engine room.
