Who we are

Sophie Photography is a small independent business run by Sophie Henderson, selling landscape photography prints from across the North East of England. If you have any question about your privacy or your data, please email info@sophiephotography.co.uk.

What we collect and why

• Order details. When you place an order we collect your name, email address and delivery address. We need these to make up your order, post it to you and send you confirmation and dispatch updates.
• Payment details. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own secure payment page and never reach this website. We only receive a payment reference and confirmation that the payment succeeded.
• Contact form messages. If you send a message we keep your name, email address, any order number you give us and the message itself, so we can reply.
• Newsletter sign ups. If you sign up we store your email address only. To unsubscribe, email us and we will remove you promptly.
• Gift vouchers. If you buy a gift voucher we store the email address the voucher should be sent to, along with any short note you add for the recipient.

Where your data is stored

Your details are stored in our hosting and database provider's systems, which keep the data securely on our behalf. Access is limited to Sophie and is protected by an administrator login.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Cookies and browser storage

This site does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and there is no tracking of your browsing. The only storage we use is what the shop needs to work: your basket is saved in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back, and Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages when you pay. Clearing your browser storage will empty your basket.

How long we keep things

Order records, including the details needed for the sale, are kept for accounting purposes for as long as we are required to keep business records. Contact messages and newsletter sign ups are kept until they are no longer needed or until you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have anything inaccurate corrected, and to ask us to delete data where we are not required to keep it. To exercise any of these rights, email info@sophiephotography.co.uk and we will respond as quickly as we can.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the page and the date at the top.
