Roker Pier at Dawn, shown mounted at 8x6" print (10x8" mount)

Roker Pier at Dawn

£12.50

Crimson and pink cloud burning over a pale band of first light, the granite setts and ornate railing sweeping away down the pier to the lighthouse. Portrait format, cool blues underfoot against a hot sky.

Roker Pier took eighteen years to build, its lighthouse following in 1903 under engineer Henry Hay Wake. Behind the granite bands the interior is remarkably grand for a working lighthouse, with wooden panelling, parquet floors and a tiled engine room.
