Herd Groyne Colour Pop, shown mounted at 8x6" print (10x8" mount)

Herd Groyne Colour Pop

£12.50

Towering cumulus over a long-exposure sea smoothed to milk, marram grass blowing through the corners of the frame, and the lighthouse carrying the only colour in vivid red. Tynemouth's priory and the Collingwood Monument stand across the river.

The Herd Groyne lighthouse at South Shields, often likened to a 1940s spaceship on stilts, was built in 1882 at the mouth of the Tyne. Painted bright red and still in service, it continues to guide ships safely into the river.
