St Mary's Lighthouse Causeway
£12.50
The classic golden hour view up the causeway, the tower glowing white against blue while its reflection runs down the wet concrete and a long exposure smooths the rising tide over the edges. The hero shot of the island.
St Mary's Lighthouse stands on its small tidal island just north of Whitley Bay, reached by a causeway when the tide allows. It was completed in 1898 and kept ships safe until 1984, and remains one of the best-loved landmarks on the North East coast.
