Snowy St Mary's

St Mary’s Lighthouse standing bright against a wintry North Sea, the snow-covered promenade leading towards the island beneath a dramatic coastal sky. A rare winter view of one of North Tyneside’s most recognisable landmarks. St Mary’s Lighthouse was completed in 1898 and guided ships along this stretch of coastline until 1984. Standing on its own tidal island at Whitley Bay, it is reached by a causeway that disappears beneath the North Sea at high tide.
