The Rendezvous Cafe Sunrise

Sunrise from the other side of the building, the low sun sitting on a rough sea and throwing long shadows across the wet promenade while the cafe's lit interior glows through the arched windows. Quietly cinematic, the coast before the day begins.

The Rendezvous Cafe on the promenade at Whitley Bay is a much-loved Art Deco ice cream parlour, opened as the Garden Restaurant and renamed in 1957. Still family run and carefully preserved, it sits on the local heritage list as a perfect example of the traditional seaside cafe.
