Tynemouth Longsands in Summer

High summer from the dunes, deep blue sky and big white cumulus over an immaculate empty beach, a long exposure smoothing the surf into soft bands. Marram grass and wildflowers fill the near frame with the priory headland closing the view.

Tynemouth Longsands is a mile of golden sand between Cullercoats and Tynemouth village, backed by dunes and Victorian terraces. It is one of the best-known beaches in the North East and a favourite place to learn to surf.
