King Edward's Bay Sunrise

An extravagant autumn sunrise in pink, lilac and orange, vapour trails catching the light as long white breakers curl onto the sand below. A few early walkers stand on the beach with the priory and castle silhouetted above them.

King Edward's Bay is a small sandy cove tucked beneath the cliffs at Tynemouth, directly below the ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle. Sheltered by grassy banks on three sides, it is one of the coast's favourite family beaches.
