North Shields Fish Quay Blue Hour

The Fish Quay from above at blue hour, the white Low Light tower standing over lamplit sheds and moored trawlers while a small ferry draws its wake up a teal river. Bewick Street's pubs glow amber and the lights of Tyneside twinkle away upriver.

The High and Low Lights of North Shields are historic leading lights that guided ships safely into the Tyne, with beacons on this spot since the 16th century. The current pair were first lit on 1 May 1810 and still preside over the town's working fish quay.
