Grey Street After Dark

Grey Street glowing beneath the deep blue of the evening sky, its grand sandstone buildings illuminated in warm gold as the wet pavement reflects the city lights. A classic night-time portrait of one of Newcastle’s most celebrated streets.

Grey Street was built in the 1830s as part of Richard Grainger’s transformation of Newcastle city centre, with much of its architecture designed by John Dobson. Sweeping down towards the Quayside, its elegant curve and classical buildings have made it one of the city’s most recognisable views.
