Grey’s Monument was completed in 1838 in honour of Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey and former Prime Minister. Standing at the head of Grey Street, its 40-metre column has become one of Newcastle’s defining landmarks and a familiar meeting point at the heart of the city.
