Snow on the Tyne, Black and White
£12.50
The same snowbound Quayside in monochrome, brilliant white snow against black railings and dark water with the arch and bare branches turned to silhouette. Restrained and graphic, the quieter twin of the colour version.
The Tyne Bridge is the most celebrated of the crossings between Newcastle and Gateshead, opened by King George V in 1928. It was built by Dorman Long of Middlesbrough, the firm that went on to build Sydney Harbour Bridge, and at its opening it was the longest single-span bridge in the world.
