High Force Waterfall

From the boulders at the plunge pool in summer, a long exposure drawing the fall into a single smoked-silk column beneath the dark whinstone cliff, the pool swirling in soft streaks below and fresh green leaves arching overhead.

High Force is one of England's mightiest waterfalls, where the whole River Tees plunges 21 metres over the Whin Sill near Middleton-in-Teesdale. After heavy rain the river also breaks over the usually dry second channel, turning one fall into two.
