The Old George Colour Pop, shown mounted at 8x6" print (10x8" mount)

The Old George Colour Pop

£12.50

The Old George's yard at night, bunting and festoon bulbs strung across the whitewashed frontage and the gold lettering above the door carrying the only colour. Empty bench tables wait in the foreground. Portrait format, a tucked-away scene at the end of the evening.

The Old George Inn, hidden up its cobbled yard off the Cloth Market, is Newcastle's oldest pub, dating from 1582. King Charles I is said to have drunk here while held near the city, and the chair he used is still kept inside.
