The Side Colour Pop

£12.50

A long exposure looking down the Side at night, a street lamp bursting into a huge gold starburst while traffic traces white ribbons of light through the junction below the railway arch. Wet cobbles shine through the monochrome. Portrait format, the old city at its most cinematic.

The Side is a medieval street running steeply from St Nicholas' Cathedral past the Black Gate down to Sandhill on the Quayside, its name taken from its position on the side of the hill. Admiral Lord Collingwood, Nelson's second in command at Trafalgar, was born here in 1748.
