Grey's Monument Colour Pop

£12.50

Taken flat to the paving on Grey Street at dusk, with the engraved words THE PAST IS MY PRESENT TO YOUR FUTURE filling the foreground in gold. The column rises dead centre beyond it while the street, the crowds and a streaked sky stay in monochrome. Portrait format.

Grey's Monument commemorates Earl Grey, the Northumberland statesman who was Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834, and was completed in 1838. The column stands 134 feet tall, and a time capsule of coins, medals and subscribers' names lies buried beneath its foundation stone.
