The Grand Hotel Gold Colour Pop

£12.50

The Grand's sandstone frontage at night, shot square-on from the foot of the steps with two guests in evening dress silhouetted in the doorway. The gold GRAND HOTEL sign and the glowing lamp globes on the steps hold the only colour. Portrait format, a Victorian occasion caught mid-evening.

The Grand Hotel in Tynemouth was built in 1872 as a summer residence for the Duchess of Northumberland and became a hotel five years later. It has been regarded ever since as the grandest address on this stretch of coast, famed for its sweeping Victorian staircase.
