Angel of the North Colour Pop

The Angel from the foot of its mound, the steel figure and its full wingspan carrying the only colour in the frame, a rusted orange that glows brightest along the top edge of the wing. Sky, grass and treeline fall away into soft monochrome around it. Portrait format.

Antony Gormley's Angel of the North has stood on its hilltop beside the A1 at Gateshead since 1998 and has become one of the most recognisable artworks in Britain. It stands 20 metres tall with a wingspan of 54 metres and weighs 200 tonnes.
